About Ellen Sizemore

My name is Ellen, and Heart to Heart Asheville is my therapy practice. I am glad you're visiting!

I’ve been a professional counselor for nearly 13 years. I hold two masters degrees (Master of Arts in Counseling and a Master of Divinity) from Wake Forest University. My experience ranges from working closely with couples, young adults and their parents, folks who have experienced significant attachment trauma and wounding, and families managing addiction and substance abuse issues. I have served as a Team Lead in community mental health as well as Associate Clinical Director for a nationally-known residential treatment program.

Training and intensive supervision in Emotionally Focused Therapy offered me an incredibly helpful and effective framework and model for my work. I have completed both the EFT Externship and Core Skills. As of November of 2024, I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist. Additionally, training in the Enneagram, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and antiracism through the Racial Equity Institute (REI) all inform my clinical work. 

I am licensed in the state of North Carolina.
